Blackwood Faces
My “Blackwood Faces” project is a natural progression from “Hometown Revisited”, something I have been planning for a while but simply not got around to until now. Whilst the initial “Hometown Revisited” project primarily centres on landscapes and views of Blackwood and the surrounding areas this new project will feature environmental portraits of the people who make Blackwood what it is today.
I plan to create a photographic record of Blackwood's business people together with characters who work and live in the town. If you would like to feature in the project or know someone you think should be included contact me through my Facebook page or drop me a message. There’s no fee involved, all I ask is that you allow me the opportunity to create a portrait of yourself to feature in the project and use in any related marketing of the project and in return I'll provide you with a selection of the low res images for use on your own socials.
The project will be available to view online on this page and if sponsorship can be found maybe even a physical exhibition will be possible and perhaps a book too. Nothing like aiming big!
Blackwood was my home town growing up and back in the 50's, 60's and 70's was a thriving town with a bustling market and so many independent retailers that pretty much anything could be purchased without travelling further afield. Today the town isn't anything like it used to be but we can be too quick to put it down, it's not dying, and in fact there are many local businesses providing an amazing service to locals. This project will hopefully shine a spotlight on the town and what it has to offer and show it in a positive light.
Watch this space and we’ll see where things end up.
